It appears to me that everyone is interested in what is going on in the PHU. Well, the PHU has been quiet this week. Baltimore is maintaining its rep for violence and stupidity. This week we will call, Burn and Charcoal. We had multiple burn victims only one from a house fire, one who tried to remove their extensions with a lighter,DAH an the rest were grill related either charcoal or propane. Then there is the charcoal, not the kind you burn you see but the kind you have to drink when you over dose. Some of the nurses including myself had to change clothes because of the spewing volcano's erupting from our patients. Mind you the charcoal is still BLACK and the speckles on your uniform are really not that appealing. Almost forgot about the violence we had a few stabbing most in the chest requiring chest tubes to assist in ease of respiration, another one stated he got beat up and kicked when he got to the ED he had also be stabbed in the tushie, magine that. Patient survived and was sent home. Guess they won't be sitting comfortable for a few weeks, will have to stand at the bar to drink. Well that should be enough for this week.
I finish my family assessment class on Wednesday then start my community assessment class on Thursday. This will create a schedule change for me as I will now be working FRI, SAT, and SUN nights as my regular routine. I will try to pick up Thursday after class for OT. Once this class is compete I will have a break for my cruise then ONE class left to finish my degree. Looking forward to MAY when I walk across the stage with my peers and we can all say It is over. I do admit that I enjoyed the group, thru the frustration of some of the classes and classmates religious and political beliefs. Variety is the spice of life...... Until I sontact you again have a great rest of the summer.
